Vickie Dianne Cherry Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Vickie Cherry passed away in Middletown, NY on August 11, 2016 surrounded by family. Vickie was born in Broken Arrow, OK on December 21, 1952. She is preceded in death by her parents: Imogene Smith and Earl Humbyrd, and stepfather Ted Smith. She is finally reunited with her Mama and furry grandson, Zorro, who was her constant shadow and protector. Vickie is survived by her sisters: Darlena Caudy and husband, Howard, and Donna Humbyrd of Broken Arrow, OK; her lifelong partner, Antonio “Tony” Alvira; her three children: Sheri Lieurance and husband, Patrick of Marysville, WA, Dianna Cherry and boyfriend, Carl, and Doug Jr and girlfriend, Jen, of Greenville, NY. Vickie leaves behind four grandchildren: Autumn Nicoli of Greenville, NY, Summer Frisby and Jacob Lieurance of Marysville, WA, and her furry grandson, and protector, Bentley. She also leaves behind her best friend and partner in crime, Christine Hunt, of Port Jervis, NY. Vickie and Christine were nicknamed “Thing 1” and “Thing 2.” Customers at work would always think that they were twins, and they would drive them all crazy. Vickie was not open to many people. She was usually pretty quiet, and didn’t like attention drawn to her. However, if you were a part of the special select few, you were sure to get to see the real her. Vickie worked as a cook for many years. She would even spoil the residents at the care center by giving them what they wanted, vs. what they were to be served. This truly showed Vickie’s character. She always did for others before she would do anything for herself. Vickie loved to bird watch out the kitchen window. She could also always be found reading her books for hours on end, with a coffee in hand. Vickie’s celebration of life will be held at Morse Funeral Home Inc. 33 Railroad Ave, Middletown, NY on August 20, 2016 from 2 - 4 PM. Please wear purple in her honor. In lieu of flowers, Vickie’s family would appreciate that donations be made to the American Lung Association.
