John L. Salvagin Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

John L. Salvagin, Jr. of Susquehanna, PA, passed away on March 13, 2018 at the age of 79. He was the son of the late John L. Salvagin Sr., and Anita (Bonnell) Salvagin, born in Middletown, New York on January 22, 1939. Better known as Jack, he was a man of many trades. He was retired from the Middletown Fire Department, where he served as a Professional Firefighter for 20 years. He was a past member of the National Guard; a life member of the Ontario Hose Company #5 and the Elk's Lodge 1097 in Middletown. Jack had a passion for collecting insulators, which the latter part of 2018 would have marked his 50 year milestone of hunting insulators with his son Josh and good friend Charlie Breiner. Jack enjoyed talking to people and enjoyed talking to and helping customers in his daughter's store. Through his earlier years, Jack worked for several local businesses; Weale and Startup, where he had a keen ability for tuning pianos; and G.Richard "Dick" Truex working as a plumber's assistant. Jack loved collecting coins and other trinkets, a passion he shared with his late Dad. Up until the last few years, Jack enjoyed being on his tractor, mowing and snow plowing, not only his own property, but that of his neighbors as well. Jack loved visiting with and talking to his Grandchildren, he was affectionately known as "Pop-Pop". Jack leaves behind his wife Babette and his canine companion, Winston; his son, Joshua L. Salvagin and his wife Kelly; his daughters; Kimberly V. Imholz and her husband Bill; and Heather E. Bennett; his step-children Amanda Hutchinson and her husband Kevin and Greg Hopkins. He also leaves behind his Grandchildren, Jenna Salvagin and her husband Josh Milas: Ashley Salvagin: Billy Imholz; Bryce Imholz; Christopher Salvagin; Michael Salvagin; Adam Bennett; Zachary Bennett; Gracie Radebolt: Lacie Radebolt; Caitlyn Hutchinson and Ryan Hutchinson and three Great-Grandchildren. He is further survived by his siblings, Bonnie (Bill) MacLean; Pam (Pete) Meier and Roger Salvagin, as well as many nieces and nephews. A celebration of Jack's life will be held on April 8, 2018 at 1PM at the Middletown Elk's Lodge Prospect Ave Middletown, NY.
