George Dempsey Jr. Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

George Dempsey Jr was born in Wigham, Georgia on Nov 7, 1931 to the late George Sr and Katherine Dempsey. He spent his younger years in Philadelphia, PA. He then moved to Westwood, New Jersey where he had close relationship with his cousins, Minnie Chapman White, Mary Chapman Brown and Rufus Chapman all of Paterson NJ. George graduated from Westwood High School and then enlisted in the US Army. He served in the Korean War where he earned a Purple Heart, the National Defense service medal, Korean service medal, Bronze star attachment triple star and the US service medal. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant in 1954. George always loved to have a good time and one night out in New York City, he met Ms. Gloria Cooper whom he later married. The two built a family of 5 children and raised them in Westwood, NJ. The Dempsey’s were known for their parties and barbecues. George worked several years for the US Post Office, the Department of Public Works, and owned his own family business G&G Maintenance. George also worked at the Ford Motor Company in Mahwah, NJ where he met his lifelong friend Johnny Winston. He loved to go deep-sea fishing, cooking, barbecue, off-track betting and party. Later in life George married Ms. Ann Perry and lived in Monroe, NY and Chester NY George leaves to treasure his memory his 5 children, Vicki (Brad) Thomas, Roland, Jason, Stacy, and Jennifer, 5 grandchildren Lauren, Jessica, Whitney (Eucklyn) Morrison, Dylan, and Raven and 1 great granddaughter Zoe Morrison. He is predeceased by Gloria and granddaughter Jasmine.
